Cardi B has barely had time to recover from childbirth and reflect on marriage, let alone process her rapid rise to fame. So she took a well-deserved moment to mull over it all on Jimmy Kimmel Live.
During the episode that aired late Wednesday (Oct. 17) from Brooklyn, the chart-topping “Bodak Yellow” rapper sat for a chat with Kimmel, almost a year to the day since she made her late-night TV debut on the same show.
“Oh my god it’s crazy,” she said of her meteoric rise. “It’s only been 12 months, I can’t even believe it.”
Conversation moved to baby talk. Cardi is definitely enjoying her new role. “It’s the best, it’s like ‘oh my gosh I should have had you when I was a teenager. This is what I was missing my whole life, I love you.'” And Cardi being Cardi, she didn’t shy away from the tough stuff. When asked about the challenges of childbirth, Cardi admitted, “It was totally hard, it broke my vagina.” She wasn’t done there. “Nobody told me they were going to stitch my vagina… People just be like, ‘oh, you know, when you give birth, it’s gonna hurt’ but nobody tells you.”
Still, those harsh facts of life haven’t turned her off building a family with her husband, Migos’ Offset. She’s keen for more, perhaps three or four little ones. But the fame game — specifically, paparazzi — has its drawbacks. “I would like to do normal things….but right now, I have to keep it very low key.”
