Just a few months ago, Cardi B made her award show performance debut at the 2017 MTV VMAs pre-show and at this year’s BET Hip-Hop Awards. Now, given the meteoric success of “Bodak Yellow,” Cardi has taken her talents to a larger audience and performed her breakout hit overseas at the 2017 MOBO Awards.
Taking the stage at the First Direct Arena in Leeds, UK, Cardi performed a censored rendition of her biggest hit, backed by female dancers who helped the rapper keep her energy levels up. The audience members illuminated the dark venue with their phone lights and sang along to the inflammable track.
Cardi was nominated for best international act — although Wizkid walked away with the award — and thanked MOBO for welcoming her overseas at the end of her performance. “Thank you U.K., thank you for having me,” she said. “This is really an American dream, to be loved all over the world.”
Cardi B has a lot to celebrate, as the rapper’s breakout single not only was certified triple-Platinum, but earned the singer two Grammy nods, for best rap performance and best rap song.
