On the heels of releasing their Ginger album, BROCKHAMPTON made their Ellen debut on Friday (Sept. 6). The boy band took their talents to the Ellen stage for the first time to deliver a mellow performance of project standout “Sugar,” which has been tabbed a fan favorite from the group’s fifth LP.
The stage design is kept pretty simple for the most part, as the genre-blending ensemble sit down on a raised platform with a moving cloud graphic and pastel flashing lights used in the backdrop. Singer Ryan Beatty sets the tone for the performance with a brooding chorus, while the group members take turns at center stage.
When BROCKHAMPTON frontman Kevin Abstract stands up and moves through his verse, the rest of the group also stands on the platform and begin to hit a little jig to end the synchronized performance on more of an uplifting high note.
BROCKHAMPTON kick off their North American trek north of the border with a show in Vancouver, B.C., on Oct. 26.
