“It ain’t an easy road, I learned that a long time ago… Maybe, maybe you can feel a little love this time,” Bridget Kelly sings on “Maybe.”
As like “Maybe,” her new EP, Summer of 17, finds Bridget Kelly reminiscing on life’s lessons. While she’s come far, she happily takes on the challenge to learn more of herself while learning of love.
“Summer of 17 — this project is unlike anything I’ve ever released but I’m so proud of it. I wrote/co-wrote every song; it’s tailor-made to remind myself that I’m old enough to know better but young enough not to take life [and] love too seriously,” she tells Billboard.

After parting ways with Roc Nation in spring of 2014, Bridget Kelly has been working steadily independently–and unknowingly gifting her with freedom to be no one but herself. “Being an independent artist has been one lesson after the next and it’s brought me to terms with who I am, and I’m comfortable with that,” she said.
The 7-song EP features production by Da Internz, Swagg, K-Mack, Jordan Bratton, JDot and Roc.
Bridget Kelly will be celebrating the release of her EP by hitting the stage. She’s embarking on her Summer of 17 tour on Aug. 8, kicking off in D.C. and ending in NYC on Aug. 13.
