Back in April, TMZ reported that imprisoned rapper Bobby Shmurda would have a parole hearing in Aug. 2020 and could possibly be paroled by Dec. 2020 if that goes well. This Is 50 caught up with the GS9 member for a phone interview published on Thursday (July 19), where he touched on his 2020 release, squashing any beef with 6ix9ine, the next generation of rappers, and much more.
Bobby’s ready to pick up his burgeoning rap career where he left off as an artist once he’s freed. “When I get out, we’re going to fuck everything up. I got two years, 2020. You know how that shit goes. I like to see real n—-s doing their thing with more constructive shit. I hope a lot of motherfuckers learn from me,” he explains.
The Brooklyn native made sure to swiftly shoot down any idea of having an ongoing dispute with rising star 6ix9ine: “There ain’t no beef — there’s no problems. You know how that shit go when you’re in jail, I been hearing a whole bunch of crazy shit. I seen all the colors in the hair and all that crazy shit going on and I started laughing… I understand this is entertainment, and the n—a got to express himself the way he’s going to express himself.”
Shmurda explains that he keeps up with what’s going on by watching some episodes of late-night show Desus & Mero. “I like what’s going on. I love the energy. I fuck with NBA Youngboy, Lil Baby, Gunna, and everybody that’s coming out. I love the energy to see people coming up out the hood,” Bobby suggests.
The 23-year-old is currently locked up on conspiracy and weapons charges after begrudgingly accepting a plea deal in 2016. Bobby’s mother posted an update (July 14) on her son’s state of mind last week to Instagram. “He is maintaining great spirits and will be home before you know it,” Leslie Pollard penned.
