Bobby Brackins is behind a few hits dominating the R&B/hip-hop charts. He helped write Chris Brown‘s “Loyal” and Tinashe‘s “2 On,” both top 5’s on the R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. Now Brackins has his own name on a successful tune: “Hot Box,” which has over a million plays on Soundcloud.

Unsurprisingly given the song’s subject matter, the video involves lots of smoking — and a kiddy pool.
In a clever bit of cross-promotion, G-Eazy references one of Brackins’ other hits in his verse, rapping “I’m always ‘2 On,’ you don’t ever see me sober.”

Last summer, Brackins released a free mixtape of his own material titled Maxwell Park. It includes guest appearances from other rising west-coast artists — Ty Dolla $ign, Iamsu! — and established veterans like E-40. As for the future, look out for the music video to his next song, “My Jam,” featuring Zendaya and Jeremih, which was shot in Puerto Rico.
