Soon after announcing his signing to Roc Nation, Big Sean released four new songs.
The surprise project includes collaborations with a handful of today’s most-wanted producers, including DJ Mustard, Kanye West, Mike WiLL Made-It and more.
The first track, “Paradise,” is produced by Mike WiLL Made-It and plays like a slower variation of his beat for Future‘s “Move That Dope,” heavy and growling.
“I Don’t F— With You” has an all-star credit list, with contributions from West, DJ Mustard and DJ Dahi (who produced Kendrick Lamar‘s “Money Trees” and Drake‘s “Worst Behavior”). A soul sample kicks off and closes the track, but not before DJ Mustard drops production in the vein of TeeFLii‘s “24 Hours.”
As the sound changes, so does Big Sean’s mood. Initially he’s upset with an ex-girlfriend (maybe onetime fiancee Naya Rivera?): “I heard you got a new man, I see you taking a pic/ Then you post it up thinking that it’s making me sick.” He then switches to focus on the future: “I got a new chick that I gotta thank God for.” (So, that would be “Best Mistake” duet partner Ariana Grande, right?)
Big Sean is currently working on the follow-up to 2013’s Hall of Fame, which debuted at No. 1 on R&B/Hip-Hop Albums.
