Surrounded by friends and wearing his bright red number 18 high school jersey, Cross made the announcement Saturday (Oct. 20) during a ceremony at Woodward Academy near Georgia.
“I just want to thank my family: mom and my dad, coach Davis, my football team,” Cross told the crowd. “With that being said, I want to announce that I committed to the University of Oregon.”
Cross was then handed a green and yellow Oregon Ducks hat, and celebrated by dancing with his friends. The moment was caught on video by his proud father, who shared the clip on Instagram.
“My Son @crosspatton #18 Committed to the Oregon Ducks !!!! #RunningBack #ScholarAthlete #GoDucks ——– @uoregon Coach @ryandavis33 —-,” Big Boi captioned the video. Watch below.
The 5-feet-7-inch, 185 pound running back received scholarships from schools including Columbia, Butler and Virginia State, but verbally committed to Oregon Ducks as a walk-on, according to Yahoo Sports.
Earlier this year, Big Boi reunited with his Outkast partner André 3000 to celebrate the high school graduation of his other son, Andre “Bamboo” Patton II.
