Over the past week, a deluge of R&B songs have hit the Internet — three of which come from R&B divas: Beyoncé, Ciara, and Kelly Rowland. The singers’ songs, which preview their forthcoming albums, are individually hard-hitting. While Kelly Rowland bares her soul on The-Dream-penned, “Dirty Laundry,” both Beyoncé and Ciara deliver feisty tracks that’ll get you on the dance floor.
Vote now in the poll below and tell us which new song (“Grown Woman,” “I’m Out,” or “Dirty Laundry”) will have you hitting replay months to come.
Beyoncé – “Grown Woman”
Beyoncé previewed one minute of her Timbaland-produced song back in April, when she teased it in her collaboration with Pepsi, “Mirrors.” The full version features Bey’ confident, as always, over a tribal beat. At the latter end of the song, she samples a verse from Snoop’s “Ain’t No Fun (If the Homies Can’t Have None).” “Grown Woman,” co-written by The-Dream, is reminiscent of her first single off “4,” “Run the World (Girls).”
Ciara – “I’m Out,” featuring Nicki Minaj
Ciara’s bass heavy, club banger features both the singer and Nicki Minaj throwing the deuces to their exes. “Ladies it’s your song/ So as soon as this come on/ You should get out on the floor/ Go and get your sexy on,” Ciara opens “I’m Out.” “I’m Out” follows Ciara’s first single of her self-titled debut, “Body Party.” This week (June 1), the song hits a new peak of No. 14 on R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart.
Kelly Rowland – “Dirty Laundry”
Kelly Rowland gets candid on “Dirty Laundry,” touching on haunting matters like a former abusive relationship and post-Desinty’s Child resentment towards Beyoncé. “It was very emotional. It took me days to record,” the singer told Billboard of The-Dream penned song. “I had to get past being so upset and actually sing the song, not sob through it.” “Dirty Laundry” will be featured on her fourth studio album, “Talk A Good Game,” out June 18.
