Taking questions at a book signing in Miami on Thursday (Nov. 5), Carson was asked about the ads, their specific demographic and why he is “going that route.”
“There are people in the campaign who felt that that was a good way to do things,” he replied. “And, you know, they’re entitled to their opinions about such things.”
The unidentified woman asking the question followed up, “What about you?”
“You know, I support, you know, them in doing that,” said Carson. “But, you know, I probably would have taken a little different approach.”
As previously reported, Carson’s campaign is putting $150,000 into the ads that will hit radio airwaves Friday in Miami, Atlanta, Houston, Detroit, Birmingham, Ala., Jackson, Miss., Memphis, Tenn., and Little Rock, Ark.
A Carson spokesperson told ABC News the ad effort was an “expressed articulation to another market, a non-traditional voting market for Republicans.” He said this was the campaign “reaching out and talking to them in a language that they prefer and in a language that, and in a cultural format that they appreciate.”
