The Beastie Boys‘ Ad-Rock (a.k.a. Adam Horovitz) went on Jon Stewart’s Daily Show Monday night (April 13) to promote his new movie While We’re Young. The pair, who had never done an interview together before, hit it off immediately, covering… well, not much of substance, but it was all hilarious. Ad-Rock pretty easily deflected most of the host’s attempts at actual questions, changing the subject to mugs, the Meters, the Mets, and Oprah, among other things. Stewart talked about meeting the rapper while he was an MTV VJ — perhaps unsurprisingly, Horovitz had no recollection of the early ’90s Stewart.

What Horovitz didn’t realize was that he’s actually one of Stewart’s “favorite performers of all time,” a fact that the host revealed almost 10 minutes into the interview. “I never would get a chance to hang out with you,” Stewart said. “We’re having a tender moment, but the interview ended like 10 minutes ago…This is all me, keeping you here, because I don’t know if I’ll ever get this chance again.”
