“I fly often on road, but somehow that moment when you break the clouds and come up over them just never gets old,” Bas tells Genius, and the Dreamville signee is just days away from soaring across Europe, as he embarks upon his first headlining tour in support of his latest studio effort Too High To Riot, released earlier this year. In the nick of time, Bas drops the breezy visual for his single “Clouds Never Get Old,” and the rapper can’t keep seem to keep his feet on solid ground.
The Scott Lazer-directed clip opens with a dazed Bas waking up as he swiftly changes into a fresh fit, before heading out the door to take a stroll. It’s a beautiful day in the neighborhood as the rapper floats on top of grass, basking in the beauty of the clouds above him. “But I ain’t felt love in a long time, and I told you that when we woke up, I guess that might have been the wrong time,” he spits while riding through the streets with a female companion, bathed in the sun’s rays.
“Clouds Never Get Old” follows a trail of previously released singles from Too High To Riot, which includes the J.Cole-assisted “Night Job”, “Methoylne” and “Matches”. “This album is much more reflective,” Bas told Billboard about his latest project. “It’s moreso about things lost and things gained, things I’ve become aware of in the past two years, so it was very important for me to get those personal moments across but also phrase them and present them in a way that you could relate.”
