German-born, Singapore and Thailand-raised rapper, Azizi Gibson, premieres the mellow and melodic single “Black Rose” exclusively with Billboard today (Sept. 28). The single is the first off of his upcoming and previously unannounced EP, I’m Good on People.
Gibson said in a statement sent to Billboard regarding his impending EP saying, “It’s always been quality over quantity with me, so I wanted to do a compact project that was filled with bangers so when it’s over, you’re in shock.”
Speaking on starting off with the single, he quipped, “Keep your hands and feet in the vehicle at all times, because the ride starts with ‘Black Rose.’”
The emerging emcee has an impressive backstory, meeting Flying Lotus through a chance encounter after moving to Los Angeles in his early 20s, and signing to the artist’s Brainfeeder label. In 2015, he launched his own preHISTORIC imprint. Thus far in his career, he has provided support for the likes of Waka Flocka, THEY., Flatbush Zombies, and Chance the Rapper, and headlined the recent Protein Shake Tour. Next up is his I’m Good on People Tour starting off on Oct. 7 in Oberlin, Ohio.
Previous projects from the rapper include Memoirs of the Reaper, A New Life, preHISTORIC Till Death, and Ghost In The Shell.
