A$AP Rocky‘s highly anticipated third studio album, TESTING, is finally done. The Harlem rapper took to his Twitter page Sunday night (May 20) to announce that the experimental project is ready to be released for public consumption. “ALBUM DONE,” he wrote, with TESTING‘s artwork accompanying the tweet.
Rocky hosted a Lab Rat art exhibit at Sotheby’s in NYC which was live-streamed across the globe on Sunday. Fans piled into the venue with little information given as to what they would experience prior to the puzzling event. Flacko sat within a clear enclosure bathing in an ice bath. He was surrounded by laboratory workers in hazmat suits and members of the A$AP Mob. The 29-year-old culminated the two-hour event by unveiling the album’s cover and speaking on what went into crafting the project.
TIDAL’s Elliot Wilson shared a possible back cover to TESTING, confirming that the project will see cameos from Kid Cudi, Skepta and Moby, who appeared on the previously released “ASAP Forever.” Earlier in 2018, Lord Flacko unleashed the Blocboy JB-assisted “Bad Company” setting the stage for his upcoming album. Billboards have even popped up around NYC teasing TESTING‘s imminent release.
The fashion icon appeared on Complex’s Open Late with Peter Rosenberg last month (April 12), where he discussed his creative process when making the album. “I’m experimenting in a more calculated way. I’m trying to make sure that I take precaution to where I’m not just drawing out of the lines all crazy, mixing my colors. I’m still trying to give you a beautiful canvas, but something different. I want to take a different approach, and I want to challenge the viewer who is tired of hearing the same old shit. You know, this shit is a cliché at this point,” he explained.
“This is going to be an amazing fucking album and I’m going to hopefully change a bunch of people’s lives again. Hopefully, people will make better music and influence me to make even better music,” Rocky concluded.
