Back in November, A$AP Ferg posted a video of a crowd singing along to his hit “Plain Jane” with the caption, “This is going platinum.” It wasn’t an overly ambitious declaration from the rapper, whose hit was already climbing the Billboard Hot 100 and later received a remix by none other than Nicki Minaj.
Fast forward to today, Ferg’s “Plain Jane” has reached the status he foreshadowed, and he celebrated his latest feat by performing the track Tuesday night (Jan. 9) on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.
The dramatic performance begins with a haunting, cinematic sound sweeping over the night-show space as dark lights shrouded the rapper’s figure on stage. After reciting the infectious hook, blue and pink lights illuminate the stage as Ferg’s energy levels shoot up to match the booming melody of “Plain Jane.” Clad in a black, high shine suit, he unleashes his rapid-fire flow over the eerie piano chords and thumping drum strikes and at one point shouted out “We platinum!”

This February, Ferg will embark upon his Mad Man headlining tour with rappers Denzel Curry and IDK. The jaunt will kick off on Feb. 28 in Philadelphia before the rappers make their way to major cities such as Atlanta, Los Angeles and Chicago over the two-month-long trek. Ferg will then fly back to his native New York to wrap up his tour at Terminal 5.
