A$AP Ferg and DJ Premier joined forces for the anthemic “Our Streets,” brimming with classic New York style boom-bap production. The pair performed their collab on TRL for the first time on Tuesday (Jan. 16) and transformed the set into a neighborhood block party.
A crowd of TRL attendees packed into the makeshift basketball park, equipped with a portable basketball hoop, a gate with a sign that reads “Park Basketball Courts” and an NYC skyline backdrop behind Premier. As Premo laid down his signature scratches, Ferg’s laid-back flow floated over the soulful, throwback-style beat as the crowd waved their hands and nodded their heads.
Speaking to Billboard about “Our Streets,” Ferg said, “If you know Premier, you know he’s a producer that’s gonna push all his artists from Biggie to JAY-Z to M.O.P, whoever it is and he wants the purest you and that was it — I let him do his job. So I was the student and he was the teacher.”
