L.A. Reid brought special guest Andre 3000 to his recent Kidd Kraddick Morning Show interview while on the promo run in support of his new memoir Sing to Me. The Outkast MC — known for keeping a low profile — hung out with Reid and shouted out several artists currently on his radar.
“Kid Cudi’s last album Speedin’ Bullet is the best thing to come out in a long time,” said Andre. “[Young] Thug is charging up the rap game. Future is charging up the rap game. These are people I listen to and my kid turns me on to everybody new so I just listen to whatever he listenin’ to, riding to school.”
Andre 3K also gushed about his 18-year-old son, who may have inherited his father’s gift. “He can actually rap,” offered the Atlanta MC/ actor. “But he don’t want people to know he can rap. He’s actually good.”
He added that he’s told his son to release music without revealing who his father is. “Yeah, I told him to do it and don’t tell people. Just put it out. That way when people like it, they just like it and you can reveal at any time if you want to. He might have songs that y’all listen to and y’all don’t even know.”
Reid also praised Andre, describing him as his one of his favorites. “When I tell you that artists don’t become great by being dumb, they’re smart — [Andre’s] one of the smartest,” he said.
Andre 3000 — who also appears on the ABC drama American Crime — weighed in on the art of freestyling and says he might need social media one day. Watch the full interview below.
