If the name Ali Gatie sounds foreign to you, here’s your chance to get familiar with the R&B newcomer. On the heels of notching his first Billboard Hot 100 hit with “It’s You” in June, Gatie looks to have the brooding tune climb even higher following the release of the track’s anticipated visual, which arrived on Thursday (July 18).
With Gatie being born to Iraqi parents in Yemen, before moving to Abu Dhabi and finally settling down outside of Toronto, Ali has been exposed to a mixture of cultures in his 22 years of life, which is well on display in the “It’s You” video. The intimate clip finds Gatie riding in the backseat of a car, but the couples shown throughout come from a range of ethnicities and are of various ages.
“The video showcases love in all of its forms, shapes and sizes,” Gatie told Billboard earlier in July. “The video tries to represent every person or situation that “It’s You” could be for each listener. It’s very diverse and showcases love in different ways.”
