With an array of talented Asian acts all across the board, 88rising has emerged as one of the strongest collectives in hip-hop. Boosting budding acts such as Rich Brian, Joji, Keith Ape, Higher Brothers, and more, 88 will take the next step and launch their inaugural music festival, Head in the Clouds, this September in Los Angeles.
“Having our own music festival in LA is a dream come true and something we have always wanted to happen. 88rising means ‘double happiness’ and that’s what we intend to bring to the live experience for years to come with this festival. We have been working on every detail for the fans to have a great time with us,” Sean Miyashiro, 88rising founder and CEO, says in a press release.

Co-produced by Live Nation, Head in the Clouds will take place Sept. 22 at the Los Angeles State Historic Park. In addition to the previously mentioned acts, Zion.T, Yung Bans, Yung Pinch, LAFF TRAXX are expected to perform. Tickets for general admission and VIP tickets will go on sale this Thursday (May 10) at 10 a.m. PST on the fest’s official website.
Along with their debut festival, 88rising will also release their first group project, also titled Head in the Clouds. Rich Brian, Joji, Higher Brothers, NIKI, AUGUST 08 and special guests will be featured on the project. “We wanted to make a timeless record, and really create the soundtrack of summer, because summer is a feeling, a whole vibe,” Rich Brian says in the press release.
The album’s official release date has yet to be announced, but the guys have teased a summer drop. In the meantime, check out a snippet for the album below.
