After releasing his debut project, Day 69, less than two months ago, it appears that 6ix9ine is ready to bid adieu to his burgeoning career.
This past weekend, he tantalized fans with the thought of retirement after he posted a picture on Instagram. “Waiting for someone to rob me,” he began his caption. “Ima quit rapping this year. I accomplished everything i dreamed of in 5 months.”
Despite being embroiled in a bevy of beefs including highly publicized ones with The Game, YG and most recently, Bhad Bhabie, 6ix9ine has been able to gain success on the Billboard Hot 100 in a short matter of time. His debut track, “Gummo,” peaked at No. 12, while other records such as “Billy” and “Keke” featuring A Boogie wit da Hoodie and Fetty Wap performed admirably, also earning placements on the Hot 100.
In February, he dropped his mixtape Day 69 and scored a No. 4 debut on the Billboard 200, moving 55,000 equivalent album units his first week, with 20,000 coming in through pure album sales.
