50 Cent‘s social media antics are always good for a laugh. The Queens native took time out Wednesday morning (Feb. 5) to celebrate the 16th anniversary of his acclaimed debut album, Get Rich or Die Tryin’. The commercially successful project debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and sold over 872,000 copies in its first week.
“Feb 6 2003 I released the largest debut hip hop album ever. 13.3 M Sold,” Fifty wrote. “Do you remember the time, Billie jean, thriller all #1 hits LOL.”
Being the shrewd businessman that he is, the 43-year-old also shared a limited-edition run of merchandise in celebration of the 2003 effort’s birthday. The garments range from $27 t-shirts to $79 hoodies, which are available in red or black over at 50 Cent’s website.
Get Rich or Die Tryin’ has stood the test of time as a certified classic album in the eyes of hip-hop purists. The project also went on to spawn a pair of Billboard Hot 100 toppers with “In da Club” and the Nate Dogg-assisted “21 Questions.”
