21 Savage closed out February with the launch of his Bank Account Campaign, which put his plan in motion to help improve the financial literacy of teen students across the country. With his next step, Savage announced on Thursday (March 7) that he’ll be teaming with nonprofit Juma to deliver 150 jobs to at-risk Atlanta youth come June, who will also be enrolled in his Bank Account financial literacy workshops.
“As I have gotten smarter about financial management, I realize how empowering it is to control your money rather than be controlled by it,” 21 detailed in a previous statement to Rolling Stone in 2017 after gifting 21 teens with $1,000 to open their own bank accounts. “I want to help kids with a background similar to mine to get smart about their money.”
Juma looks to connect the crossroads of education and career by having students learn from field experience with jobs in sports and entertainment arenas all around the United States. Even with his freedom in question after spending 10 days in ICE detention, the 26-year-old’s commitment to improving the community that raised him hasn’t wavered one bit.
