2 Chainz has something of a history with basketball; the Atlanta rapper was a prospering athlete during his high school days, playing a role as a star sixth man for North Clayton High in College Park, Ga, which won the Class AA 92-93 state title. Tity Boi also had a small stint in D1 hoops, playing a season for Alabama State before calling it quits.
But now it looks like 2 Chainz has been putting in extra time cementing his form lately, after the 6-foot-5 rap star uploaded a clip of himself training with Drew Hanlen, a top-level basketball skills coach and consultant who has worked with NBA players like Bradley Beal, Andrew Wiggins, Dwight Howard and many more.
The “Good Drank” rapper is clearly gearing up to chef up some hoops for this years’ NBA All-Star Weekend celebrity game on Feb. 16, which features a deep roster that includes Naismith Memorial Hall-of-Famer Tracy McGrady, Michael B. Jordan, Jamie Foxx, Dascha Palanco and Snoop Dogg.
2 Chainz wrote in a caption that he may have lost a step or two due to breaking his leg last August during his Pretty Girls Like Trap Music tour, but he’s been putting in the work and wants to make his mama proud.
The clip sees Chainz in sweet rhythm, hitting crossovers, hesitation dribbles, and knocking down step back jumpers all with the air of a man who has clearly done this before. Who knows, 2 Chainz for celebrity All-Star MVP? We’ll see.
