2 Chainz delivered his long-awaited Rap Or Go to the League album on Friday (March 1), and the early reviews have been fantastic. Chainz drops off the project’s first visual on Monday (March 4), electing to bring the Buddha Bless and Jabz-produced track No. 3 “Money in the Way” to life through a Vincent Lou-directed short film.
The ATL native uses a magical elevator to time travel to different decades and show that money has always been the root of all evil. He first heads back to 1965, where a masked bank robber successfully evades police with bags of cash in his hands. Chainz then moves a decade later to expose how pimps put their women through a glow-up phase to help bring in more money.
Tity Boi continues to display major events that impacted the generation that would follow from the ’80s through the 2000s to complete the circle of life. The clip comes to a close with a newspaper headline fresh off the presses reading, “2 Chainz Buys the Block.”
Chainz also sat down with LeBron James, who served as A&R on ROGTTL, for an in-depth conversation for Apple Music regarding how the album came together. Chainz detailed how he wanted to convey a message about educating the youth with this project. “The message to me was about black excellence, ‘each one teach one’, and it’s about getting the African American community to know they can do something,” he said.
