Now that November has arrived, Taylor Swift can finally get to work re-recording the first five albums in her back catalog, if she should want to. But with so many to choose from, Billboard wants to know which studio set you think the superstar should recreate first!
Do you think she should begin again with her 2006 self-titled debut? Are you dying to hear Taylor revisit her country roots by recreating early hits like “Tim McGraw,” “Our Song” and “Picture to Burn” as an adult?
Or perhaps you’d rather she begin the process by re-recording one of her more recent albums of the five — 2014’s 1989 or 2012’s Red, the latter of which she recently looked back on as her “true breakup album.”
No matter which album the icon tackles first, it’s safe to say she’s been looking forward to the process for quite a while. Swift first revealed her plans to re-record her body of work in July and August 2019, in the wake of her feud with Scooter Braun and Scott Borchetta over ownership of her masters, which the former controversially obtained by purchasing the singer’s former label in a massive $300 million acquisition.
“It’s something that I’m very excited about doing because my contract says that starting November 2020, so next year, I can record albums one through five all over again,” the singer-songwriter revealed in an interview on Good Morning America at the time. “I’m very excited about it. I just think that artists deserve to own their own work. I just feel very passionately about that.”
