It’s already been the anthem for the first female major party presidential candidate and the upcoming 2016 Olympic Games. But on Monday morning (Aug. 1), Katy Perry gave her Katycats something else major to look forward to this week. The singer posted a 27-second teaser of the official video for her inspirational anthem, “Rise,” with the full version slated for release on Thursday (Aug. 4).
In the clip, Perry appears to be struggling with the aftermath of parachuting into hostile territory, crawling across a desert moonscape, submerged in water and sprinting through a giant warehouse, her pink parachute billowing out and dragging her down. At the end she’s dangling from a rocky cliff and then staring out defiantly as the song’s chorus echoes in the background, “I will still rise.”
The teaser clip comes a week after Perry unveiled the Olympics-themed video for “Rise,” which has already racked up nearly 27 million views.
