When Emma Bunton — aka ‘Baby Spice’ — shared an Instagram photo of a reunited Spice Girls back in February, she set the social media world ablaze in speculation. Was new Spice Girls music on the horizon? Was a new reunion tour in the works? While Victoria Beckham has already flat-out denied any reports of a reunion, she clarified during her time on The Late Late Show with James Corden that the photo was actually a symbolic gesture.
“It’s not about us going on tour, it’s not about us recording new material, but how do we pass the ‘Girl Power’ message on to future generations?” Beckham said. “Never has there been as important a time to spread that message as there is now, so what does it look like, what is it?”
Corden’s reply seized the moment, “well it looks like a Carpool Karaoke, I think.” The audience went wild with applause as Beckham laughed and grabbed Corden, repeating “that would be hilarious!” However, For Corden, this answer didn’t suffice.
“I’m reading between the lines but I feel like that’s what you’re saying,” he said, applying the pressure. A hesitant Beckham repeated, “that would be hilarious.” Corden, still unsatisfied, said “Yes it would, can we confirm you for it?” Finally Beckham cracked, “I will do carpool karaoke with the Spice Girls.”
No official plans have been set in motion as of yet, but Spice fans everywhere can only hope that Beckham will keep her word and keep the girl power alive.
