Vampire Weekend dropped two new songs — “This Life” and “Unbearably White” — on Thursday (April 4) from their much-anticipated upcoming album Father of the Bride.
“This Life” is a bright, upbeat song that features backing vocals from Danielle Haim and additional guitar from Jake Longstreth, who co-hosts the Beats 1 radio show Time Crisis with Vampire Weekend frontman Ezra Koenig.
“Unbearably White” evokes more mellow vibes but still feels distinctly like a Vampire Weekend track. The song was produced by Ariel Rechtshaid and written by Koenig himself.
These are the latest songs released from Father of the Bride, which comes out May 3 on Columbia Records. The group previously unveiled “Sunflower” and “Big Blue” on March 6 and “2021” and “Harmony Hall” on Jan. 1. Those latter tracks marked the return of the indie band, who went on a six-year hiatus beginning in 2013.
