YouTube sensation Troye Sivan has a very simple message for the friends, families and survivors of the Pulse nightclub massacre in Orlando: stay strong. The singer/songwriter sat down with People magazine to talk about the worst mass shooting in U.S. history, which killed 49 and injured 53. Calling the incident “heartbreaking,” Sivan sent his love and support to the victims and loved ones, along with a message about staying strong.
“It shows how far we have to go still and reminds the LGBTQ community to not become complacent,” he said. “Use this as a wake-up call to keep going and to keep being loud and proud and to keep trying to encourage tolerance, and love and acceptance in the world.” Sivan, 21, has been a strong supporter of the LGBTQ community since coming out in one of his videos in 2013 and he is proud to help others connect with who they are.

“The best people in the world are not afraid to embrace who they are and they inspired me to do the same for myself,” he told the magazine. “Just try things, have fun, wear what you want to wear and do what you want to do. I would recommend everyone live their life like that.”
Sivan is keeping busy on the music side as well, with a new single, “Wild,” featuring Alessia Cara, debuting on Thursday morning (June 23) on Elvis Duran’s radio show.
