He opened up about the singer, who has had an amazing year with her record-breaking album, an arena tour announcement and a happy relationship with actor Joe Alwyn. However, Hall confessed that his buddy’s life hasn’t always been so perfect.
Hall recalled a time when Swift wasn’t herself, largely due to a former boyfriend. “I think she’s the happiest I’ve ever seen her. I love it,” he said. “There was a time last year — I don’t know if I’m supposed to say anything, but she was dating someone. I never actually met this person, but I could just tell every time I would talk to her, she would hunch over.”
To cheer Swift up, Hall sent her an edited photo of her as Quasimodo, the hunchback of Notre Dame. “I was like, ‘You cannot turn into Quasimodo for this guy. Every time you say his name, you hunch over,’” he said.
Clearly, the advice worked: “Now she’s so happy, standing up completely straight and so tall and so confident. I’m so happy for her.” He even mentioned that Alwyn might be the one for his pal.
Hall also discussed how the “Look What You Made Me Do” songstress responds to criticism: “We were talking about this the other day and I was like, ‘It blows my mind that you’re so humble and so sensitive.’
“I think it’s that passion and that humble quality about her that makes her so great at writing songs that people identify with because she wears her heart on her sleeve,” he continued.
