Meet Aussie pop rockers Them Swoops. Hailing from Melbourne, the duo — comprised of Dave McGann and Chris Goff — first hit the blogosphere in 2012, finding early success with tracks landing on Triple J and Sirius XM Alt Nation. After signing to NY-based label +1 Records, they then hit the road hard, with tours supporting groups like The Maccabees and San Cisco, and a debut at CMJ.
And following their glorious 2014 EP Glimmers and early 2016 single “Into The Atmosphere,” they return today with their latest drop-of-sunshine gem “Alright For Me,” premiering exclusively via Billboard.
“I usually piece songs together from separate little parts I have lying around, and despite the chorus really jumping out of nowhere on this one, the song was actually written all at once,” McGann tells Billboard. “It’s a bit of a gamble having a key change for the chorus, as the first listen might be jarring – but I think it makes it cooler when you hit repeat and the song drops back to the original key.”
Give it a spin, and you’ll undoubtedly feel like you’re one step closer to spring break — or even better — beachside in Australia.
