The Weeknd has been in a contemplative mood lately as he celebrates the seven-year anniversary of his major label debut, Kiss Land. As part of the party, Abel dedicated Friday night’s (Aug. 14) episode of his Memento Mori radio show to spinning a bunch of records that inspired that album all those years ago, plus some outtakes and unreleased tracks that didn’t make the final cut as a thank you to the fans that helped push the song to the top of the iTunes R&B chart for the first time last week.

What nobody expected was for the singer to bust out a previously unreleased remix he did of Lana Del Rey‘s 2014 Ultraviolence track “Money Power Glory”; the pair ended up collaborating on the title track to LDR’s Lust for Life in 2017. You can listen to the episode on Apple Music here.
Speaking of radio shows, while Abel was giving Lana some shine, Bruce Springsteen took some time to give Lana some praise on his From His Home to Yours DJ series on his SiriusXM channel, where he played her track “American” and noted that he thinks she’s “simply one of the best songwriters in the country.”
Of course it helps that “American,” which appeared on LDR’s 2012 album Paradise, just happens to drop some Boss lyrics: “Springsteen is the king, don’t you think/ I was like, hell yeah that guy can sing,” she sings on the song. Springsteen, who previously played “Video Games” on his show and fessed up to being an LDR fan,” had way more to say about Lana, according to NJ Arts.
“She’s, uh, name checking some guy from New Jersey in there. I’m not sure who,” Springsteen joked on the “In Dreams”-themed Aug. 14 episode of his series, which also found him reading a Robert Louis Stevenson poem (“The Land of Nod”), playing songs by Nancy Sinatra and Lee Hazlewood, The War on Drugs and Roy Orbison and uncorking a fictional story about a nightclub manager and a mysterious woman.
“She is from New York, and was raised in Lake Placid,” he continued about LDR. “Lake Placid, a fabulous little American town where I have spent many a lovely summer evening with my children and my family over the years. And Lana is simply one of the best songwriters in the country, as we speak. She just creates a world of her own and invites you in. So a big favorite of mine, the lovely Lana Del Rey.”
