Rainn Wilson isn’t the only person linked to The Office who’s acted like he doesn’t know who Taylor Swift, one of the world’s biggest pop stars, is.
Wilson gave the impression that he was left scratching his head after Swift reposted a rave review of her latest album, Evermore, with a GIF of his character Dwight Schrute sobbing out of gratitude and saying, “Thank you.” “I do not know who this is. Inventor of the Swiffer?” he wrote on Twitter while sharing her post. She teased him right back with a GIF of Jim Halpert, Schrute’s friendly nemesis who’s played by John Krasinski, saying, “Touché” while slightly shaking his head.

Well, nine years ago, the singer-songwriter came up with her own parody of the hit NBC sitcom for a behind-the-scenes clip of her “Ours” music video. The mockumentary-style spoof featured similarly miserable employees in a sterile office reminiscent of Dunder Mifflin, who occupied themselves with gossip about Swift’s lovesick, cat video-watching character.
“The sweater crow? Part scarecrow, part sweater, all blonde. Her?” one character commented. “I can’t remember her real name. But she uses a lot of company time to do inappropriate things on the internet.”
Since her Speak Now days and somehow between releasing not one, but two surprise albums during quarantine, the Evermore singer recently told Swifties that she’s had time to binge-watch The Office again. During a live chat during the YouTube premiere of her “Willow” music video, she wrote, “Dawson’s Creek and The Office have been my quarantine binge shows. Am I stuck in the past? Yup. Am I sorry? Nope.”
