“In 2015, Taylor Swift created her squad. By the end of her tour, the entire world had joined,” a voice narrates in a trailer for The Squad, a chilling film about a post-apocalyptic future where Swift’s ever-expanding group of celebrity friends takes over the whole human race — as imagined by Saturday Night Live writers.
The clip – which pokes fun at Swift and her troop of famous pals — aired during the SNL season premiere on Saturday, Oct. 3.
“First it was the models, then the athletes, then it was everybody,” a character played by SNL cast member Kenan Thompson says. “Police, the fire department, Matt LeBlanc.”
Swift, of course, has been making headlines as of late for the impressive number of surprise guests she’s brought to the stage throughout her 1989 World Tour — from Mick Jagger to the U.S. Women’s National Soccer team to Lisa Kudrow as her Friends character, Phoebe.
So, what happens when one is inevitably pulled into Swift’s Squad? “I think she invites them onstage and they like, walk around for a minute or something,” one of the lone survivors muses in The Squad sketch, which can be watched below.
