Keep digging, because according to the latest Taylor Swift FaceTime interview, her “Me!” video contains not one, not two, but three layers of Easter eggs that Swifties can obsess over until Taylor takes the stage for her upcoming tour.
In a video chat with Capital Breakfast’s Roman Kemp on Tuesday (May 7), Swift said that when she releases new music fans will realize that there are “dozens of lyrical references and symbolic references” that they may have missed.
Dressed in denim overalls and a pink plaid shirt and seated on a comfy couch, Taylor enthusiastically laid out the multi-tiered scheme she’s developed to seed clues all over her videos. “I try to do Easter eggs in, like, first round is stuff they can see that predicts what will happen in a couple months,” she said. “There’s also like second-tier Easter eggs which will be revealed upon the album. Then there’s third-tier Easter eggs, which are the most deeply embedded Easter eggs which be shown on the tour.”
Swift also talked about how cheeky she intended the song and pastel-splashed “ME!” video to be, but was very cagey about how she’s going to announce the album’s release date. To be clear, the album does have a name, but she’s absolutely not revealing it yet.
