The Glee alum took to Twitter to share a clip of himself simply trying to enjoy Mendes’ performance at the BBMAs. The young singer was treating the crowd to a rendition of “In My Blood,” but it’s a bit difficult to hear him over Criss’ comical complaints.
“Miss? Excuse me, miss,” he repeats sarcastically behind an oblivious Swift, who is jamming out alongside Reputation tourmate Camila Cabello. “Miss, I can’t see! I’m trying to watch Shawn Mendes!”
Still, Criss doesn’t seem too broken up about the obstructed view, suddenly belting out the song’s chorus at the end of the clip — perhaps to slyly play it cool as Swift finally catches on to his antics.
