Stalking Gia struggles to break out of a toxic relationship on “Miracles,” a new collaboration with blackbear premiering exclusively on Billboard today (Nov. 20).
Gia sings of a disintegrating relationship that is built on a foundation of anger and unhappiness. With its jarring electric guitar chords and eerie melody, the song sonically captures the tension of Gia’s situation. “My heart should come with a warning/ I ruin everything,” she sings.
Rapper and R&B artist blackbear joins Gia on the track, rapping from the perspective from the other half of Gia’s failing relationship. Their voices come together at the end of “Miracles,” capturing the couple’s simultaneous harmony and discord as they struggle over whether to stay together or break apart.
“Miracles is about looking for divine intervention in a toxic relationship,” Gia tells Billboard. “Reaching for any reason to keep up the love addiction.”
The New York-based singer first met blackbear while collaborating on “Wish U The Best” from his 2017 album Digital Druglord. “Wish U The Best” sampled Gia’s hit track “Second Nature,” and impressed blackbear so much that he took the rising artist under his wing.
“Miracle is one of my favorite collaborations and definitely one of my favorite beats I’ve ever made,” blackbear tells Billboard. “It would have been difficult to give that one away to any other artist. [Stalking Gia’s] tone and lyrical sensibility has a forever second kingdom at Beartrap.”
“Miracles” is Gia’s second release from her upcoming debut EP, PTSD, set to be released on Nov. 23 on blackbear’s label Beartrap.
