About two weeks ahead of its release, Coldplay showed off tunes from its new album, “Ghost Stories,” during “Saturday Night Live” on May 3, first with the introspective “Magic” and then giving a starry performance of” A Sky Full of Stars.”
Last night’s performances (watch below) marked Coldplay’s fifth appearance on “SNL.” Next week’s show features host Charlize Theron and musical guest the Black Keys.
As previously reported, Coldplay is also getting an NBC special. Following Chris Martin’s well-received three-episode stint on “The Voice,” the British foursome will tout “Ghost Stories” in a one-hour broadcast slated to air on May 18 at 7 p.m. ET/PT, one day before the album officially drops.

“Coldplay: Ghost Stories” will feature new songs from the band’s latest album, including current single “Magic.” Other tracks included in the setlist: “Viva La Vida,” “Paradise” and “Clocks.”
In between performances on “SNL,’ Coldplay frontman Chris Martin joined host Andrew Garfield and the actor’s “The Amazing Spider-Man 2” co-star (and real-life girlfriend) Emma Stone for a skit. During the sketch, The two repeatedly failed to make a kissing scene believable, so Martin had to step in for Stone to plant one on Garfield.
Also during the show, Garfield unveiled a trailer for “The Beygency” — a thriller about a man whose life is made a living hell after he admits to not being crazy about one of Beyonce’s songs.

Later, “Celebrity Family Feud” saw Garfield do a spot-on Justin Timberlake, who made Steve Harvey (Kenan) feel uncomfortable by saying sexily: “I’m not here as a Grammy winner or as a movie star. Because tonight I want everybody to know – it’s just Justin.” The skit also featured impressions of Bruno Mars, Skrillex, Drake and Adele. Check it out below.
