Meet elusive pop-star-in-the-making SIVIK. While his real name and identity remain a mystery, what we do know is that the L.A.-based artist has already enjoyed mainstream success in the past — as a songwriter. Having worked with a slew of artists including Adam Lambert, Hot Chelle Rae, and Downtown Fiction, SIVIK has already been prepped for the mainstream by taking a page out of Sia’s book. And given the “Chandelier” singer’s extremely successful transformation from songwriter to superstar, it looks like SIVIK might have his own shot at the majors this year.
Dropping the first taste of his solo project via label Songs of BLK Diamond, SIVIK offers up the airy (and sure to be stuck in your head all day) track “High,” premiering exclusively via Billboard.
The beat-driven banger wouldn’t feel foreign on a club DJ set, your favorite alt-R&B playlist, or even on top 40 radio. SIVIK’s slurred vocals take you to the drop at 2:40, when he’ll lift you up once more with “you keep me from crashing down, yeah you’ve got it figured out, ‘cause you get me high, you get me high.”
“It’s about the beginning stages of attraction and lust when you first meet someone you’re into,” the engimatic artist tells Billboard of the song’s origins. “The songs that follow will describe what happens next.”
Expect the budding talent to make more waves later this year, and look out for further details (A/S/L, anyone?) to come with more music.
