The documentary — reportedly titled Untitled Sia Documentary Project — will be one of the first projects under the newly formed Los Angeles-based production company Pictures, Pictures, which was recently announced by Lang and producer Ryland Aldrich.
The Sia doc, which is pre-production, will offer a never-before-seen look at the artist’s mysterious life, according to Deadline. Lang has worked on film projects for Serato, Louis Vuitton, Hollister, The Guggenheim, Honda, MTV, Pharrell, Public Enemy and TED.
Sia confirmed the news by tweeting a link to the Deadline story from her official account on Friday, Sept. 11. Billboard has reached out to Pictures, Pictures representatives for further details.
As previously reported, Sia showed up at international film festival Venice Days to dish about her new film project Sister, which she’s written and will direct, for her frequent collaborator Maddie Ziegler.
Based on a one-page story she wrote eight years ago, Sia said, “I was too embarrassed to tell anyone I wanted to make a movie, because I thought it would be seen as a vanity project, because I was a singer. … And then last year after I made the ‘Chandelier’ video, I realized that I was pretty good at directing, so I felt a little bit braver.”
