Years & Years’ “If You’re Over Me” has already been treated to a few remixes, and now it’s gone K-pop with the addition of SHINee’s Key on the latest version.
The bouncy, questioning track was originally released on May 10, and the updated version was released today (July 6) to coincide with the release of Years & Years’ Palo Santo album. On it, Key, who speaks English with fluency, sings in both Korean and English over the original melody alongside Years & Years.
The original Korean verses reflect the song’s overall meaning, as Key asks a lover to stop pushing-and-pulling. “The daily, repeating mistakes/Your words that stop mine/Fate is a lie/Oh it’s so cruel/ If your heart is done/Let’s end this tedious situation and let me go,” he sings.
It is the first time Key’s collaborated with the British pop trio. He most recently released The Story of Light EP. 3 album with his band.
Along with the K-pop singer, Years & Years has released “If You’re Over Me” remixes featuring Paul Woolford, NOTD, SEbastian Perez, DECCO, and Tom & Collins.
