Shawn Mendes has been stealing hearts since he first rose to fame from his six-second covers on Vine. In June 2014, his first single “Life of the Party” debuted in the top 25 of the Billboard Hot 100, making the then 15-year-old the youngest artist ever to do so. Now 19, the singer has two studio albums, three world tours and seven singles under his belt, Mendes has unveiled the start of his next chapter: his eighth single, “In My Blood,” released today (March 22).
Mendes took a comparatively upbeat route with his second single “Something Big,” and after releasing his debut album Handwritten, Mendes reached the Top 10 — and became an international star — with third single “Stitches.” He collaborated with Camila Cabello next for their catchy duet “I Know What You Did Last Summer,” which sparked romance rumors between the pair. If it wasn’t already clear at this point that Mendes could handle ballads just as effortlessly as he could crank out upbeat pop hits, he certainly showed it.
Mendes’ age-defying talent continued into 2017 on album two, Illuminate, featuring the lovelorn, yet upbeat tracks “Treat You Better” and “Mercy” as well as the irresistibly danceable “There’s Nothing Holdin’ Me Back.” The young star’s success landed him the well-deserved title of being No. 1 on our 21 Under 21 list last year.
“In My Blood” adds an anthemic layer to Mendes’ discography, but in a way that proves he has yet to disappoint. With an increasingly ample catalog of smash hits, we’re wondering which one is your favorite so far! Let us know by voting for your favorite Shawn Mendes single below.
