Shawn Mendes and Khalid, two of Generation Z’s brightest stars, are teaming up for the new single “Youth.” Mendes took to Twitter to announce the track on Tuesday (May 1).
Mendes is set to release his self-titled third studio album on May 25, which is available to pre-save-now, and he’s already shared the singles “In My Blood” and “Lost in Japan.” In his tweet about “Youth,” the 19-year-old performer shared that the track will be out Friday and included a graphic of the lyric “you can’t take my youth away.”

“Young, Dumb and Broke” singer Khalid retweeted Mendes and added his own message with hearts, which seems like a corresponding lyric: “Pain, but I won’t let it turn into hate.”
Mendes and Khalid — both born in 1998 — are each making individual waves on the Billboard charts, so it’s only right that they join forces to represent for their generation.
