Since releasing his new single “In My Blood” one month ago, Shawn Mendes has only performed the Kings Of Leon-inspired track a handful of times. But before his latest “In My Blood” performance, Mendes threw in a bonus number, bringing Post Malone‘s “Psycho” to the BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge over the weekend.
Sporting a simple maroon T-shirt, the 19-year-old turned the hip-hop hit into a soft-rock jam, with his smooth vocals laid over gentle electric guitar and haunting keyboard chords. Mendes put his own spin on Post’s verses, adding runs and falsetto that made the track feel like his own.
Keeping with the chill vibe, Mendes brought out an acoustic guitar for his newest rendition of “In My Blood.” He turned the anthemic single into a beautiful display of his vocal ability, toning down his power notes and making the heart-rending message of the song even more affecting.
Mendes’ recent trip to the UK also included a performance on BBC Music’s Sounds Like Friday Night series, where he once again sang “In My Blood” and delivered the live debut of “Lost In Japan.” He also had the honor of singing “In My Blood” for the Queen of England as part of the Queen’s Birthday Celebration on Saturday (April 21).
