Selena Gomez took to social media on Monday (Dec. 8) to say a quick hello to her fans and dish on the TV show she just can’t get enough of at the moment.
“Hello guys, I am on set right now, which is really, really fun. But I wanted t0 check in and say hi, and that I have been binge-watching the Selena series on Netflix,” the pop star said in a series of videos posted to her Instagram Stories. “It’s so good. I just…she’s such an inspiration; I was named after her. It’s unbelievable. I would suggest that. Oh, and Queen’s Gambit. I miss you!”
Starring Twilight‘s Christian Serratos in the titular role, Selena: The Series traces the late Tejano singer’s rise to fame in the late ’80s and early ’90s up until her 1995 murder at the hands of her fan club president, Yolanda Saldívar. (Following her tragic death, Selena’s posthumous single “Dreaming Of You” became the biggest mainstream hit of her career, peaking at No. 22 as her lone chart entry on the Hot 100.)
Gomez, meanwhile, is hard at work filming the upcoming Hulu comedy series Only Murders in the Building in New York City alongside Steve Martin and Martin Short. A premiere date has yet to be announced. Gomez will also serve as an executive producer on the show.
Most recently, the singer also dropped a special Thanksgiving-themed episode of her HBO Max cooking series, Selena + Chef, and will next play gay mountaineer Silvia Vásquez-Lavado in the planned biopic based on the trailblazing social entrepreneur’s upcoming memoir, In the Shadow of the Mountain.
