Selena Gomez is being honest about some of the tougher parts that come with being uber-famous, particularly from such a young age.
Chief among them? “I get picked on by grown adults all the time,” Gomez told E!. “It’s grown-ups, and I don’t get it. It just baffles me. I wish I could just sit them down and say, ‘What were you doing at 15? What were you doing at 18? What were you doing at 21?’ Because I can guarantee you it’s not half of what I’ve done.'”
She says that being so active on social media means that anonymous meanies are only a click away, which can make it feel extra personal. “Trust me, it’s hard,” she said. “I’ve had my moments where I’ve let them get to me, but I refuse to let them win.”
On a lighter note, Gomez says Scandal is occupying her time these days. “I’m a newbie,” she said. “I’m at the beginning of season 2…It’s also empowering for me because I just want to do all of that. I just want to be that and I know a lot of girls feel that way. The way she’s just on it is really inspiring.”
Many of Gomez’s fans would say the same thing about her.
