Australian indie pop band San Cisco has followed up their 2012 self-titled debut with an engaging sophomore album that pushes the group’s sound in exciting new directions. Check out a full stream of Gracetown exclusively on Billboard.com, out Mar. 17 on Island City Records:
Guitarist Josh Biondillo says that the 12 Gracetown songs have been in the works since the 2012 release of their debut. “While we were touring the first record, we would be spending heaps of spare time in the tour van and hotel rooms, so we were demo-ing and jotting down ideas,” he says. “When it came time to properly lay down the tracks, we enlisted the help of our long-time producer Steve Schram, who pushed us to be a lot more hands-on this time around with the recording, which I think led us to have a much stronger connection to the songs.”
Gracetown was preceded by a trippy music video for the song “Run,” and Biondillo hopes that the other tracks on the album receive as much shine as that standout. “I guess some of our faves would have to be ‘Super Slow’ because it’s not really like anything we have ever done before. Also, I’d say ‘Wash It All Away’ for its obscure fun chugging elements.”
San Cisco, which has performed at festivals like Lollapalooza and Reading & Leeds, will be heading down to Austin for South By Southwest next week, and performing two New York shows on Mar. 22-23. Later this spring, the band will tour through Europe and Australia.
