The matching denim tuxedo and gown sported in 2001 by pop royalty Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake has become iconic — though whether in a good way or a bad way is still up for debate. After being recently revived by Katy Perry and rapper Riff Raff during last year’s VMAs, the look was brought back into the limelight this weekend by none other than former Green Lantern Ryan Reynolds.

Reynolds decided to poke a little fun at the classic image. He photoshopped his and his wife Blake Lively‘s heads on top of Brit and JT’s, and shared the results on Twitter. As he put it in the caption, “The night started exactly as planned. But I take full responsibility for the denim condom. It was a mistake.”
Mistake or not, the memorable outfits live on almost 15 years later — the only question is who will resurrect them next.
