Liverpool, England, couple Sharon Cook and Andrew Aitchison had planned their dream wedding at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas. But their Sin City nuptials were derailed when 178 year-old British package tour agency Thomas Cook abruptly announced its bankruptcy last week, stranding nearly 600,000 travelers around the globe.
The couple and their 14 guests were left high and dry…until Delta Air Lines and Caesars Palace stepped in to throw Cook and Aitchison the party of a lifetime on Wednesday (Oct. 2) at the Venus Garden Chapel at Caesars.
According to a press release from Caesars, the couple exchanged their vows surrounded by “tropical palm trees, Roman architecture, beautiful floral arrangements and their closest friends and family,” plus one special wedding crasher.
At the end of the ceremony, the resident headliner at Caesars’ Colosseum theater, Rod Stewart, surprised the pair with an acoustic version of his hist “Have I Told You Lately” accompanied by a string trio. Sir Rod then invited the whole gang to cap off the blessed event with a visit that night to his “Rod Stewart: The Hits” show at the Colosseum.
So @rodstewart just turned up at our wedding and sang to my wife! I can’t believe what has happened in the last week and this has just topped it off. Thank you Rod you’ve absolutely made our dream wedding you absolute legend. We Can’t wait to see you Friday #LikeACaesar #SirRod pic.twitter.com/xIv9QmJhnD
