Some people out in this great world of ours were not cool with Madonna, a 56-year-old woman, locking lips with Drake, a 28-year-old man, during the latter’s headlining set at Coachella on Sunday night (Apr. 12). A few of these people also interpreted Drake’s look of disgust following the kiss as a condemnation of Madonna’s sex appeal — again, as a 56-year-old.
Rita Ora is not one of those people. In a new Instagram post, the U.K. pop singer praises Madonna for taking a stand against “ageist battles” for the benefit of all female artists:
“‘Thank you for fighting all these ageist battles, and paving a way, that just maybe one day, all of us ‘Younger’Artists won’t have too in the future!” Ora writes in the caption. She also drops the hashtags #ifuckinlovethisbitch and #thatswhatlegendsdo in the post, which has over 79,000 likes on Instagram.
For his part, Drake has defended his reaction to the instantly infamous kiss on Instagram, writing, “Don’t misinterpret my shock!! I got to make out with the queen Madonna and I feel [100] about that forever. Thank you @madonna.”
